hontono Inc introduces its Relekino service in English.
On December 24th 2014 hontono Inc. released the English version of its service “Relekino”, which records and shares your background and career with other members. Relekino started offering service for it’s Japanese beta version in April of last year, and has undergone minor updates since then. Both the English and Japanese versions are free to use and have no differences in features. For users who have their browser settings in English, the Relekino page will automatically be displayed in English.
Relekino is a service that registers and shares a profile about your experiences (work, projects, achievements, hobbies, etc.). Based on that background information, you can register teams as well. Easily look though people and their experiences with one concise service. Through shared background information, you can “join” with other people by the experiences you share. Backgrounds you join will be added to your own background experiences. In addition, there are social networking features like following other people’s “backgrounds” and exchanging comments. Share what you’ve done and allow for greater communication.
Current social networking services promote communication centered on people. Relekino connects things and people (backgrounds), to promote communication. The way people use current social networking services differs from person to person, making it hard to tell what people are doing. Relekino’s aim is to do a better job at letting people show their personality through their work and hobbies.
There are very few services that allow you to summarize the things you have done. For business there is Linkedin, and for your private life there is Facebook and Twitter, which splits up your personal information. There is still no standard service that concisely summarizes things that you have done.
By gathering information, and linking people and things Relekino will be useful. This should lead to discoveries and communication like, “This person is famous for doing that, but they actually also did this?” or “My friend was a staff member working on that project?!”
Relekino has future plans to improve and allow for paid private accounts and professional brand, product, and company accounts.
