Association of Production Designers in Japan (A.P.D.J) reproduces “RASHOMON” with crowdfunding!
Association of Production Designers in Japan
A.P.D.J aims at improving the public recognition for Production Designers and developing their status as well as improving the quality of Japanese films. On November 29, 2019 A.P.D.J has launched the crowdfunding platform “BOOSTER by PARCO & CAMPFIRE” in order to recreate Akira Kurosawa’s “RASHOMON” in modern times.

■Crowdfunding Overview
The movie “RASHOMON (released in 1950)” was the first Japanese movie that was not only worldwide well-received but also opened up the gate to the world for Akira Kurosawa and Japanese films. The gate which became the visual symbol of the movie will be reproduced in a 1/10 size at Chofu Cinema Festival 2020 in Chofu city. At the same festival, we will exhibit and introduce the creative work of Production Designers.

Various exhibitions and workshops will be held at Chofu Cinema Festival 2020 in Chofu city.

Display of video and real objects related to the artistic expression of each function in film art

Showing 4 movies and commentary, and lecture
・Chofu Cinema Festival 2020
Japan’s film awards selected by the citizens of Chofu and film artists
Among nominated films, award winners will be determined based on a selection committee composed of specialists (various artists, etc.) from each category.
The ceremony will be held.
