DMM.com Labo and the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Information Science and Technology will hold a social cooperation program on “Applications of Spatio-Temporal Analysis.

~ Application development of VR for displays and attractions based on the world’s most advanced level of spatio-temporal analysis technology ~

On August 1, DMM.com Labo Co. Ltd (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Director: Eijiro Kaida, hereinafter “DMM.com Labo” ( http://labo.dmm.com/ ) and the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Information Science and Technology will hold a social cooperation program on “Applications of Spatio-Temporal Analysis” and begin various activities. Technology which provides experiences like never before such as VR, robots, and AI is being produced one after another, as a method of expression in entertainment.

DMM.com Labo developed a variety of services stemming from the business of large-scale web development. Presently, in addition to web development, we are performing a wide range of technology research such as large data analysis and IoT.

At the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, in addition to technology infrastructure such as high-speed image processing,acoustic signal processing, tactile information processing, VR, and network computing, the analysis and utilization of the world’s most advanced spatio-temporal analysis technology is being developed.

This social cooperation program aims to apply the development of VR to displays and attractions using the world’s most advanced level of multi-modal spatio-temporal analysis technology which will be developed in large-scale research over 3 years and 100 million yen. DMM.com Labo, in cooperation with group companies, will continue to provide innovative user experiences by gearing this technology toward commercial facilities such as theme parks and shopping malls.

■The University of Tokyo Graduate School of Information Science and Technology

The School also focuses on industry-university cooperation which aims to take advantage of research results.

The Social Cooperation Program is an educational program of the Graduate School which carries out educational research with funding from private institutions which aim to carry out joint research with the University of Tokyo, and focuses on common issues of high public interest.
