SAMURAI Museum launched in Shinjuku, Japan! Window to the Soul of the Samurai

TOKYO – October 26th, 2015 – Tonboya Co., Ltd. is excited to announce the launch of their latest city-entertainment museum ‘SAMURAI MUSEUM’ in Kabukicho, Shinjuku Ward. Visitors can enjoy the exhibits and expect to experience a taste of the true samurai spirit.

TOKYO – October 26th, 2015 – Tonboya Co., Ltd. is excited to announce the launch of their latest city-entertainment museum ‘SAMURAI MUSEUM’ in Kabukicho, Shinjuku Ward. Visitors can enjoy the exhibits and expect to experience a taste of the true samurai spirit. You will be enthralled by the collection of Japanese swords, helmets, and armor in the museum. The museum also features many entertaining and amusing activities, give it a spin!

Tonboya Co., Ltd.’s Chief Executive Officer Koyano reports that the Samurai Museum opened on September 20th and features a Japanese style interior design. You must take off your shoes when you arrive according to Japanese custom. The design of the museum promises to provide you with a feeling of traditional Japan. Chief Executive Officer Koyano says that this experience is unique to the Samurai Museum and cannot be found elsewhere. Samurai Museum introduces Japanese samurai culture and spirit from the Kamakura period up to the Edo period, a span of about 700 years of history. They feature exhibits in English, Chinese, and Korean, so foreign tourists can get a grasp of the true history of the samurai.

Furthermore, visitors can try on a suit of samurai armor on the second floor and have their photos taken. Additionally the second floor has five separate tatami rooms, each featuring a different, unique theme. In total, the exhibits include over 70 intriguing objects and artifacts. Original Samurai Museum merchandise is available for purchase on the first floor.

Access: 8 minute walk from Shinjuku East exit
Entrance fee: 1500 JPY/adult, 750 JPY/under 12 years old, and free for those 3 years or younger.
1st floor/information center, armor exhibits, souvenir shop
2nd floor/Japanese swords, Japanese armor, matchlock guns, separated by period rooms, and photo shoot studio.
